Animals at Work (and Slightly Out of Control)

Wild Business is a series built around animal silhouettes and flat fields of colour, where perception operates instantly and intuitively.

Presented as part of my exhibition at Art Eindhoven, the works rely on immediate visual recognition — yet what defines each figure is not the silhouette itself, but the colour that surrounds it.

Perception identifies the shape almost automatically. The figures are immediately recognisable, yet their poses carry a quiet sense of attitude — suggesting presence, tension, or intent without relying on explicit narrative. Rather than telling a story, the images leave space for associations to emerge intuitively.

The series was conceived to function autonomously within an exhibition context, while remaining open to other modes of visual reading. Its logic is rooted in a long-standing background in graphic design and visual identity, where clarity, coherence, and sensitivity to colour relationships are essential. This perspective informs how the images hold together as a system rather than as isolated figures.

In this sense, Wild Business naturally sits at the intersection of contemporary art and illustration-driven contexts. It shares a visual language with editorial imagery and applied formats where immediacy, adaptability, and emotional resonance are central — without losing its independence as a body of work.

Following its presentation at Art Eindhoven, the series continues to evolve through new colour explorations, formats, and potential collaborations.
