SHIPPING & RETURNS
I want your artwork to reach you safely and for the purchasing process to be clear from the beginning. Below you will find information about production times, shipping, delivery and returns.
1. SHIPPING DESTINATIONS
Artworks can be shipped within the Netherlands and to most countries within the European Union.
For destinations outside the EU, please contact me before purchasing so that shipping options and costs can be confirmed. Any import duties, taxes or customs charges applicable in the destination country are the responsibility of the buyer.
Local collection in the Netherlands may also be possible by prior arrangement.
2. PROCESSING & PRODUCTION TIMES
Original artworks in stock
Available works are normally prepared for shipment within 7-10 working days after payment has been received.
Limited editions
Some limited-edition artworks are produced individually after an order is placed rather than held in stock. Production and finishing times are indicated on the relevant artwork page.
Once produced, each work is personally inspected before being signed and numbered, where applicable, and prepared for shipment.
Producing a limited-edition artwork after an order is placed does not in itself make the artwork personalised or custom-made.
Commissioned artworks
Commissioned and site-specific artworks follow the timeline and delivery arrangements agreed in the individual Commission Agreement.
3. SHIPPING COSTS
Shipping costs are calculated according to the dimensions, weight, materials, destination and packaging requirements of the artwork and will be clearly indicated before the purchase is completed.
Large or particularly fragile artworks may require specialist art transport. Where this applies, the cost and delivery arrangements will be confirmed before the order is finalised.
4. PACKAGING & DELIVERY
Each artwork is carefully packed according to its materials and dimensions.
Where appropriate, shipments are sent with tracking and insurance.
Once your artwork has been dispatched, you will receive the available tracking information by email.
Please make sure that the delivery address provided with your order is correct. If you need to change it, contact me as soon as possible. Once an artwork has been dispatched, an address change may no longer be possible or may involve additional costs.
5. RECEIVING YOUR ARTWORK
When your artwork arrives, please check that:
-
the package is in good condition;
-
the artwork corresponds to your order; and
-
there is no visible transport damage.
If the package or artwork appears damaged, please photograph the packaging before opening it and, where possible, the unpacking process and the damage itself. Keep all packaging materials and contact me as soon as possible so that I can assist you and, where necessary, make a claim with the carrier.
Reporting transport damage promptly makes it considerably easier to resolve a claim. This request does not limit your statutory consumer rights.
6. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL
If you are purchasing as a consumer online, you normally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, starting the day after you receive the artwork.
You do not need to give a reason for exercising this right.
You may notify me of your decision to withdraw using the online withdrawal function available on this website, the model withdrawal form, or by sending a clear statement by email.
After notifying me of your withdrawal, you have a further 14 days to return the artwork.
Returns should be sent to:
Bego Lafuente Art
Slauerhoffstraat 18
1822JD Alkmaar,
The Netherlands
The statutory right of withdrawal does not apply where a legal exception applies, including certain artworks made specifically to the consumer's individual specifications or clearly personalised. Where such an exception applies, this will be made clear before the order or commission is confirmed.
7. RETURN SHIPPING
For a return made under the statutory right of withdrawal because you have changed your mind, the direct cost of returning the artwork is your responsibility.
Because artworks can vary considerably in size and weight, return shipping costs may also vary. Where an artwork cannot normally be returned by standard post, information about the expected return cost will be provided before purchase where required.
I strongly recommend using an appropriately insured and trackable shipping service and packaging the artwork carefully for its return journey.
If you receive an incorrect, damaged or non-conforming artwork, please contact me before returning it. Reasonable return or collection costs in such cases will be covered by Bego Lafuente Art.
8. CONDITION OF RETURNED ARTWORKS
You may inspect an artwork in the same way that you reasonably could in a physical gallery or shop.
You are responsible only for any reduction in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and condition of the artwork.
Please package the artwork securely for return. Using the original protective packaging is strongly recommended whenever possible, particularly for fragile or large works, but retaining the original packaging is not a condition for exercising your statutory right of withdrawal.
9. REFUNDS
When you exercise your statutory right of withdrawal, the purchase price and, where legally required, the cost of the standard outbound delivery will be refunded.
If you chose a more expensive delivery option than the standard method offered, the additional delivery cost is not refundable.
Refunds will be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase unless otherwise agreed.
The refund will be made within the statutory period. I may withhold reimbursement until the artwork has been received back or until you provide evidence that it has been returned, whichever occurs first.
10. COMMISSIONED & PERSONALISED ARTWORKS
An artwork created specifically according to your individual specifications or clearly personalised may be excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal.
Where this applies to a commissioned artwork, it will be clearly stated in the proposal and Commission Agreement before you confirm the commission.
A standard limited-edition artwork is not considered personalised merely because it is produced after your order is placed.
Cancellation conditions for commissioned artworks, including the Project Development Fee and payments made after work has begun, are set out separately in the individual Commission Agreement.
11. COLLECTION
Collection in the Netherlands may be arranged by appointment for selected artworks.
If you would prefer to collect an artwork personally, please contact me before completing your purchase so that the arrangements can be confirmed.
12. QUESTIONS
If you have any questions about shipping, delivery or returns — particularly for a large or fragile artwork — please contact me before purchasing.
I will be happy to discuss the safest and most appropriate delivery option for the work.
