For years, walking through Madrid was part of Begoña Lafuente's everyday life. When she moved to the Netherlands, the familiar urban landscape of brick and concrete gave way to endless flat horizons, fresh greens, and vibrant fields of tulips.

This change of scenery became a metaphor for adaptation and new beginnings. A solitary figure walks through an exuberant landscape of colour, texture, and movement, seemingly unconcerned with finding the perfect path.

Painted in acrylic on canvas, with expressive palette-knife work and the incorporation of sand and cords, the painting has a rich, tactile surface.

Sometimes, the best way forward is simply to start walking. The rest can be figured out along the way.
